increased. In India alone, the demand for cars has gone up from 50 million in 1990 to 67 million in 2003. To minimize these problems simple and effective car parking solutions are to be designed in order to maintain the infrastructure of the city.

Problems of road-side parking
Skyfi Labs Projects
Business people are having problems in safeguarding while parking their cars in the road-side. The pedestrians will also face lots of problems due to this road-side car parking. The area for movement is also reduced and may lead to many accidents. It is really necessary to avoid parking on the side of the roads by providing innovative, space conservative and cost-efficient parking system.

Parking systems

Different types of parking systems are required for different type of parking demands. Based on that, we have five types of parking systems as follows.

  1. Multi-storied car parking complex,
  2. Hydraulic lifting system,
  3. Elevator type or tower parking system,
  4. Vertical rotary type and
  5. Puzzle type.
Multi-storied parking system has two types of parking systems such as

  1. Non-automated parking system: This system is being used widely in most of the office buildings where only 1 or 2 floors are allotted for parking. This is inexpensive and can be easily built. But this system requires larger areas and constant attention.
  2. Automated parking system: This system is designed in such a way that if the car is parked at an entrance point and left then it will automatically go through the parking system. This system just works like an ATM card.
Advantages:

  1. Uses the most modern and latest technology.
  2. Reduces the ground space requirement.
  3. Minimal maintenance required.
  4. Environmental friendly, as car engines are not working during parking.
Disadvantages:

  1. Initial cost for construction of these structures is high.
  2. Maintenance of the systems is tedious and needs constant attention.
  3. The parking fee would be higher than the non-automated parking systems.
Conclusion: Development of new parking system designs will solve huge traffic congestion problems and also accidents.
