Smart Building using IoT and PIR

Smart building refers to the place where the system can keep a track of people and maintains a database. The building will be used to get information about the number of people, usage of resources, etc. Such type of buildings is known as Smart buildings. To run that type of building we will need a system which can track people with the help of sensors and then display the results visually. Let’s have a brief look at the smart building using IoT project.

Procedure

Nowadays, the demand for such applications has increased as it helps in the prevention of any theft in the building. The system will require some important parts which are as follows: -

  • A PIR sensor
  • Relay driver module
  • ESP 8266 Wi-Fi module
  • Arduino Port
  • An LED

Let’s see how these parts will be used. The system containing the PIR sensor will be used to detect the presence of people. It can also differentiate among a number of people and can count the number of a person in the building. The sensor uses a Fresnel lens which emits light and any person crossing that area will be detected. The data will then send to the relay driver module.

With the help of relay drivers, we can control the channels over the system. It will be used to indicate light whenever a person passes by. The LED light is connected to this driver which will light up on signal from the PIR sensor. The system thus will need IOT system also as the data will send to the server or web. The internet of things (IoT) will let you send the data over the internet.

To send the data, we will be using the ESP 8266 Wi-Fi module. This module is compatible with the Arduino board. To gain access on this module we must set up a connection using Arduino programming language. Arduino is based on simple hardware programming. Basic programming will be taught with the online course provided at Skyfi Labs. The Arduino port is used to gain control over the entire system. The Arduino port will manipulate all the signals and keep an eye on the regulation of sensors, drivers, modules, etc.

The system will be set up on an Arduino board. The Wi-Fi module is important as it sends the data to the server. The administrator can gather information about the building from anywhere in the world. This will facilitate him/her to keep a track of activities going in his/her building. Such type of application can be used in many places such as offices, libraries, etc.

Conclusion

You can learn all the basics from us. We at Skyfi Labs provide all the knowledge regarding the project. The kit will also be delivered in 24 hrs. You can complete the course in a week and build your own IoT Smart building project. The project will teach you many concepts such as Arduino, sensors, manipulation of signals, displaying visual results, data handling from the module, etc.
