Sensor Guided Walking Robot
As the Technology is developing day by day, Automation has been continuously replacing human intervention every day. In order to perform certain tasks, Robots needs to move by following certain path. Through this project you are going to build a unique Line Follower Robot based on IR sensors.

You will need an Arduino Uno board for interfacing microcontroller with IR Sensors and Servo Motors. Here the IR Sensors will act as Eye of the Walking Robot. You will program the microcontroller in such a way that say that the Walking Robot should follow the LINE. Generally this can be done using IR sensors. The IR sensors will detect the change of surfaces. So with this we can create two different surfaces by creating a line with different colour from the surface colour. Now the sensors are calibrate the sensors for one colour. Now when the robot is walking, if there is any change of surface, then it will follow the colour for which it was calibrated. In this way the Walking robot will follow the Line.

Project Description:

  1. Arduino Uno: The digital and analog input/output pins equipped in this board can be interfaced to various expansion boards and other circuits. Serial communication interface is a feature in this board, including USB which will be used to load the programs from computer.
  2. Servo Motors: A servomotor is a closed-loop servomechanism that uses position feedback to control its motion and final position. The input to its control is a signal (either analogue or digital) representing the position
  3. Motor Driver: Generally the Arduino board is not capable of providing required amount of current for running the motors. So we use a device called Motor Driver which will provide sufficient current for driving the motors.
  4. IR Sensors: The component we use to find whether there is any obstacle in the path in which our trolley is going are IR sensors (Infrared).

Project Implementation:

  1. Interface the IR Sensors and Servo Motors with the Arduino board
  2. Power your robot and upload the code
  3. Place your Walking Robot on the Line
  4. The robot will start walking in forward direction till it detects the turns in the line
  5. Once the Walking robot detects the turns in the line provided, it will follow the turns

Software requirements:

  1. Arduino IDE : You will be needing Arduino IDE software to write and upload the programming logic onto the Arduino Uno board
