In home appliances the TV is the mostly available in every house.The television channel is changed by the tv Remote.The infrared lights are used to change the channel and in tv circuit there will be receiver so when we are pressing the remote so the receiver receives the whatever the channel,volume,menu,etc. are changing.

Same process to change the wheels of the robot by pressing the tv remote we have in every mode.So simple to implement this project, on the robot model the operation are control by the normal 8051 microcontroller.

When the forward,backward,left,right,stop by pressing the button in TV remote is channel ++,--.volume ++,-- and centre button of the tv remote.

By pressing the above button robot wheels can control,on the robot mode there will be a infrared receiver will be placed is connected to the microcontroller so according to the program,which button is pressed on tv remote the controller identifies the signal then signal is passed to motor drive the wheels can moves and controlled.

Project Description:

  1. AT89S52: The AT89S52 is a low power, high performance CMOS 8-bit microcontroller with 8k bytes of in-system programmable flash memory. This is a powerful microcontroller which provides high flexibility and cost effective solution to many embedded control applications. It has the following standard features: 8K bytes of flash, 256 bytes of RAM, 32 I/O lines, watchdog timer, 2 data pointers, 3 16-bit timers/counters, on-chip oscillator and clock circuitry.
  2. L293D: The L293D are quadruple high-current half drivers. It is designed to provide bidirectional drive currents of upto 600-MA at voltage ranging from 4.5V to 36V. It is mainly used to drive inductive loads such as relays, solenoids, dc and bipolar stepping motors. On the L293D, external high-speed output clamp diodes should be used for inductive transient suppression.
  3. DC Motor: This is an electric machines which converts electrical energy to mechanical energy. This is the most commonly used motor for the actuation of robots.
  4. TV Remote: A Tv Remote emitting diode which is built into the pointing end of the remote control handset.The infrared light pulses form a pattern unique to that button.The receiver in the device recognizes the pattern and takes quick respond for that.

Software requirements:

  1. Keil Uvision 3: Keil Software makes C compilers, macro assemblers, real-time kernels, debuggers, simulators, integrated environments and evaluation boards for the 8051, 251, ARM and XC16x/C16x/ST10 microcontroller families
  2. Programming language: Embedded C Language
