According to a recent study it is found that around 15000-20000 vehicles are in use and a huge amount of force is applied on the road and carbon-di-oxide released by the vehicles

The need for a practical device is required where we can use the energy generated by these vehicles can be effectively used to produce the electricity.

Hence after research, it was found that road power generation (RPG) can be used as an alternative for the energy production for the generation of clean electricity from thousands of vehicles on our roadways.

RPG which is developed has a property to convert kinetic energy produced by the vehicles to consumable electrical energy

Methodology

  • The main function of the RPG system is to capture kinetic energy released by the vehicles.
  • It is a small device which captures a small amount of kinetic energy from the vehicles and has a unique system that connects to a circulating flywheel system
  • Since a single flywheel system is used for many years, many flywheels are linked to each other once when it predetermines the velocity.
  • Once the above system is developed, it can be used to produce enormous energy even in a small space.
  • The energy which is developed is stored in various devices.
  • Now the energy which is stored is converted into electric energy and it is sent to the power grid system.
Working principle

  • Simple principle of converting mechanical energy to electrical energy is applied
  • 3 different mechanisms are applied for converting vehicles kinetic energy to electrical energy
  1. Crank-shaft mechanism: In these various crank-shafts are mounted on various bearings, but the difficulty here is the balancing problem which leads to mechanical vibrations
The vibrations so produced can cause damage to the bearings.

  1. Roller mechanism: These have different disadvantages when compared to the crank-shaft mechanism
  • Maintenance of roller mechanism is very hard
  • It may cause friction between the bearings.
  1. Rack-pinion: These systems have advantages from the other two
  • Using of these systems provides a good mounting
  • The maximum loss in gear is recorded between 3 to 5%
  • The efficiency of this system is around 95%
Conclusion

From the above discussions, it is concluded that the usage of road power generation is developed to overcome the disadvantages of pollution and energy waste. It is also found that the rack-pinion method gives the best results when compared to the other two methods.
