River Level Monitoring for flash-flood Warnings
Flood is one of the major disasters occurring around the globe. Every year it's affecting a large amount of population because of significant reduction of the forests the flood peak travels quickly and gives less time for people to evacuate from the flood-affected zones. This project will give a live data of water level and help people to find track the flow and changes in the flow of the water.

The system for the real-time water level monitoring system is required to check the flow and precipitation levels in the water bodies. The major objective behind building these systems should be to create a system which can provide data on public servers for easy access for people. The project idea is to build a water level monitoring system which will beam a laser across the river to constantly check the level of water and in cases of rivers which are very hard to access so installing the setup with solar panels for recharging of batteries will be necessary. This project will employ the use of the ultrasonic sensor and GSM network in performing real-time monitoring of water information. The water level monitoring system is composed of three major components: 1) water level sensor, 2) processing and transmitting modules, and 3) database and application server. The connectivity is done through the GSM network. The ultrasonic sensor will measure water level related data while the processing and transmission module is used to transmit measured data to the database and application server. The database and application server is implemented as a web-based application to allow users to view real-time water-related data as well as historical data. The system will also able to send warnings to the responsible authorities in case of emergency.

Project Description:

    Skyfi Labs Projects
For this project we will be requiring following components:

  1. Lidar Lite:The device measures distance by calculating the time delay between the transmission of a near-infrared laser signal and its reception after reflecting off of a target. This translates into distance using the known speed of light.
  2. Solar Charger Board:Board will be used for charging the batteries used.
  3. Solar Panel:Solar panel will be required to convert sunlight into charge which will be stored in batteries.
  4. Particle Electron:: it is a small development for creating cellular connected electronics projects, it comes with a SIM card, particle development kit and cloud platform to manage and interface with other hardware’s.

Project Implementation:

  1. Make a connection of Solar Panel to solar charger which will be connected to LiPo Batteries for Lidar system.
  2. Connect the Lidar system to voltage divider which will be connected to MOSFET Switch which will be connected to Particle Electron.
  3. Check for all the connections and test them after connecting the Particle Electron to LCD Screen.
  4. Once done write the code for execution of the program which will be simple where we have to give the maximum and minimum scanning area for Lidar and based on the input we get we have to decide the course of action.
  5. Once done with programming dump the code and test in real life conditions.
