The project is designed to develop a robotic vehicle using RF technology for remote operation attached with wireless camera for monitoring purpose. The robot along with camera can wirelessly transmit real time video with night vision capabilities. An 8051 series of microcontroller is used for the desired operation.

Skyfi Labs Projects
At the transmitting end using push buttons, commands are sent to the receiver to control the movement of the robot either to move forward, backward and left or right etc. At the receiving end two motors are interfaced to the microcontroller where they are used for the movement of the vehicle.

The RF transmitter acts as a RF remote control that has the advantage of adequate range (up to 200 meters) with proper antenna, while the receiver decodes before feeding it to another microcontroller to drive DC motors via motor driver IC for necessary work. A wireless camera is mounted on the robot body for spying purpose even in complete darkness by using infrared lighting..

Project Description:

The main usage of this robot is to capture images and videos of inaccessible places and should transmit them to a receiver which can be a computer or a TV unit. Here the 8051 microcontroller will be used as the microcontroller and act as the brain of system.

  1. Sensor Unit: The sensor unit of the robot consists of the wireless camera that can capture images and transmit them to the receiver unit in the form of digital signals. The camera can be as far as 450 metres away from the receiver. A night vision camera can improve its visibility either by amplifying the available light using image intensifiers or using infrared rays. It simply works on the principle of thermal imaging.
  2. Receiver Unit: The robot will also have a receiver unit which will receive the command signals for controlling the motors and other robot units.
  3. Actuator Unit: The major actuator unit present in the robot is the DC motors which facilitates the movement of the robot in all the directions.
  4. Control Unit: The robot uses RF to communicate with the user.Receiver will be placed in the robot and the robot’s actuation can be controlled by receiving signals from another RF Transmitter which is with the user.
  5. Camera: With a manual-modulated AV Receiver.

Project Specification:

  1. First,250 RPM DC Motor are used to actuate the robot and it connected to a 12v,4.5Amp Battery.
  2. Second, A controller will drive the motor using a motor driver IC.
  3. Third, RF Transmitter and Receiver used so the robot is controlled by the user.
  4. Four, Chain Wheel is attached to the dc motor so the rough field also the robot can handle the situation.
  5. five, A wireless camera is fixed in the front of the robo model.

Software requirements:

  1. Keil Uvision 3: Keil Software makes C compilers, macro assemblers, real-time kernels, debuggers, simulators, integrated environments and evaluation boards for the 8051, 251, ARM and XC16x/C16x/ST10 microcontroller families
  2. Programming Language: Embedded C Language
