Have you ever wondered the possibility of high-speed racing competitions like formula racing, a century ago? We all are well aware of advancement made in transit field. A section of Engineers is working on an agenda on increasing the value rate of distance covered on a daily note. We can also see the improvements that we have seen and experience in last century.

There are different modes of transport today and we might have experienced all of those, to name it like rail, airplane, land automobiles, ship. Depending on the application, time factor, climatic conditions, and geography of the travel route.

In 2012, The CEO of The boring company laid the vision of the fifth mode of transport, the high-speed ground transport system, named it Hyper loop which in advance levels will run at hypersonic speed, move in a loop. Hyper loop concept is said to be an infusion of a Concorde, a rail gun, and an air hockey table.

Factors considered while developing the high-speed rail have are managing friction and air resistance (air resistance would cause drag effects while the rail is in movement), both of which become substantial when vehicles approach high speeds. The vactrain concept theoretically eliminates both friction and air resistance.

Vactrain is generally designed for high-speed rail transportation where the speed of the rail ranges from 4000 – 5000 mph. Vactrain employs a magnetically levitating trains in partial or full vacuum tubes, allowing for speeds of thousands of miles per hour. The difficult part of the concept is the high cost of maglev and the difficulty in maintaining the vacuum over large distances.

The Hyper loop resembles a vactrain system but operates at approximately one millibar pressure. The cabins carrying the passengers are named as capsules or pods. These pods run through and float through a steel tube maintained with partial pressure, floating with air pressure.

Several countries like India, United States of America, Dubai, China and many more have started their approach to adopt the ‘fifth mode of transportation’. Companies which are developing the hyper loop to reality are transpod, arrive, zeleros, etc. Competition is organized on hyperloop by SpaceX.

CEO of X.com laid the concept of hyperloop on mars stating that the Hyperloop would be useful on Mars as no tubes would be needed because Mars' atmosphere is about 1% the density of the Earth's at sea level. The lower air resistance on Mars would allow a Hyperloop to be created with no tube, only a track.
