Project Description

In this image processing project, we will be dealing with image processing technology, the main purpose of this project is to be able to know the dimensions of the object without measuring it manually. This will help us in calculating the volume of the object by using the image. This will help the transportation industry and also many industries like packing, manufacturing, etc… the transportation industry is mainly dependent on shipping the goods from place to place and it deals only with the dimensions and the volume of the goods that to be shipped and this process becomes more time consuming and also costlier as it includes the human intervention for taking the dimensions of the objects and also time take taking as the human has to go through all the objects and know the dimensions.

In addition to the above-said problems, it also can go error as we humans are prone to make errors and redoing it will consume more time. This project helps us to know the height, length, and width of any object that is captured and loaded to the system. The process of the project is as follows:

  1. The system is trained through the datasets
  2. The image which is needed to know the dimensions is streamed through the video or image.
  3. The image must be inserted properly in between the frames.
  4. The user must click the capture option. Before clicking the option, the user must make sure that the image is between the frames
  5. Once the user clicks the Capture option the image is positioned and locked properly and rectification is performed.
  6. Then the user must set the origins for the captured image.
  7. The user must select the origin of the image and also select the other three corners that he wants to measure. 
  8. Once the origin and points are locked the system will try to calculate the real-world coordinates by using the stereoscopic disparity.
  9. And by following these steps you will get the output of the real-world distance between the points.
This project will help a lot for the companies and individuals who are dealing with the dimensions of the objects. Not only objects this one can also be for taking the dimensions of the houses, walls, or any surface that has 3 dimensions but we need to tweak the system as per the requirement.
