Coronavirus created a huge impact by affecting not only the people but also the world economy. Since the first case, the disease had consumed thousands of lives in 4 months because of its viral spreading capacity.

Coronavirus spreads when you are getting contacted with the infected person or the droplets generated by them when they cough or sneeze. The major issue with this disease is the symptoms, you will get to know that you are infected after a period of one week. Until that point, you might have infected more than hundred’s.

The best way to control the disease is by isolating the patients from others. Isolating the infected person is very simple. But the people who got contacted with the infected ones will be roaming and spreading the disease. To solve this problem we need a perfect system to track the people who had contact with the infected person.

In this project, we will develop an Android application which can able to track the individuals who had contact with the infected ones.

How does it work?

Everyone in the country/city has to install the application which has access to the GPS and the Bluetooth of your smartphone. With that access, it can able to track the individual’s movement and distance maintained by him with others.

So what can be done with these data? When the person got to know that he is infected because of coronavirus. The Health Department will take the data from his mobile with permission and traces back his travel history for a period of 10 days and notifies every other individual who came into contact with the infected person to get tested and isolate themselves.

The application will also provide you with information about the specific location of outbreaks.

To develop the android application you can use android studio which comes along with an emulator to test the application but to test the application in real-time a smartphone is also required.

Initially, the application will ask the user to register himself using his mobile number to contact him if required. Then it will ask permission for Bluetooth and GPS to collect data of the individual’s movement.

Following are the components of coronavirus tracker android application

1. Activities - It is the User Interface of the application which display’s the output based on the user’s response
2. Services - Backend process (sending or collecting data)
3. Content providers - It interacts with the SQL database to retrieve data.
4. Widgets - Visual application found on the home screen
5. Notification - Draws the user attention without disturbing the ongoing work

With the help of the above application, we can save lots of lives by tracking and isolating infected individuals. You can also upgrade the application to collect the user’s heart rate, sleep timing, etc. to track the health of the individual.
