Coin sorting maching using Arduino

Here is a project to sort the coins of the same value. When there is a greater number of coins, sorting becomes a time-consuming process. Coin sorting will make the total value calculation easy. Our project does the coin sorting accurately. It uses IR sensing technology. Mechanical design is used for sorting. This technology makes the process simpler, faster.

Description

We are using the Arduino UNO for the coin sorting. An Arduino UNO is a type of microcontroller. A microcontroller is similar to a system on chip computer, but features like memory, CPU capacity is limited. Microcontroller consists of input, output peripherals. Microcontroller controls and process the data. Arduino consists of digital and analog inputs. Arduino can send and receive the information. It consists of a Pulse Width Modulation Technique. Pulse Width Modulation technique is used to control the speed of the motor and voltage of the motor and duty cycle of the motor. Arduino microcontroller is very easy to learn. It has an open-source Integrated Development. A community is there for your help. You will always find ways. An Arduino can be learned in hours. It consists of a 5v power supply. The Ground is also provided in the Arduino. A USB port is provided in the Arduino. A 12v socket is provided for power supply purposes.

A Power cable is used to power up the Arduino. A 12 V DC socket is provided for power supply purposes. A USB cable is used for uploading the program to the Arduino. IR Sensors are used in the project for the movement of the coin. The Mechanical Design of cardboard plays an important role in the project. Because of the mechanical design, coin-sorting is made easy. When the coin is dropped into the box the coin slides and reaches the suitable wholes.

LCD can display the 16 characters per row. It has 2 rows. It can display a total of 32 characters. It has a backlight option. It consists of the contrast and brightness options. So we can vary the contrast and brightness of the characters on LCD.

IR Sensor will send radiation to the object and receives the reflected radiations. It senses the moving object based on the received radiations. IR Sensors are used in remotes, motion detecting systems. IR sensors are placed under the whole of each coin. They require a small amount of power. I2C Module for 16*2 alphanumeric display consists of a chip that converts I2C serial data to parallel data for the LCD.

When the coin is inserted into the box, due to the mechanical design the coins fell in the respective wholes. The infrared sensor senses the movement of each coin. Thereby sends a number and type of coin. The LCD will display the number and type of coin according to the value of the coin.

NOTE- Different types of LCD can be selected. The number of Characters that LCD will display is going to vary.
