It also has more weight density making the structures more weight and increasing the dimensions of the columns and beams. This results in the increase of the budget and make the structure uneconomical.

This also makes the large structures impossible to construct as the dimensions become numerously very large making it not feasible to construct. So, techniques and methods are been developed to decrease the concrete content in the buildings and lessen the weight of the structures. One of such methods is Bubble deck slab.

This bubble deck slab is a process in which we remove the concrete from the middle of a slab. This concrete does not perform any structural functions. Therefore, the self-weight of the slab can be reduced. Instead of the concrete hollow spheres made of polythene are used in the centre of the slab. By this the slab becomes lighter

Requirements:

Knowledge of Concrete Technology.

Knowledge of Strength of materials.

Test the parameters for the concrete (like density, viscosity, etc…)

Project Implementation:

  1. Design for a slab (prototype).
  2. Make the reinforcement for the slab and place it in the prototype.
  3. Introduce the polymer bubbles in the slab and then pour the concrete.
  4. Let the curing be done as of the normal concrete.
  5. Compare the strength, weight and cost of the properties.
  6. Report the difference between by using the normal and bubble deck slab.
Software Requirements:

  • If you need to plot the graph for the values you can use software like MS-Excel, Origin Pro etc…
Advantages:

  • This make the slab lighter as about 30% of the concrete is been replaced by the polymer bubble there by the dead weight of the slab is reduced.
  • The cost of the slab will be decreased by 3 – 4%.
  • Energy consumption will be less during production and transportation.
  • Less emissions of the gases (carbon dioxide).
Conclusion:

This project will try to lessen the dead load that is been induced on the structure. This will also make the structures to withstand more loads as compared to the traditional slabs. This slab design also can be checked in the ANSYS and do a study of deflection, moments and stress distributions. This project can be used in the buildings also as the concrete in the middle of the slab does not have any structural function.
